What is TYAC?

What is TYAC?

The Young Artistes Coterie is a web-based exclusive network of young, qualified musicians and artists whose passion and fervour for their work is shared with the community. Our mission is to create an avenue of exposure while we continuously work on raising standards of not just our charges, but also ourselves by organising and co-ordinating programs ranging from recitals, enrichment get-togethers, etc.

Our Programs and Instructors

All TYAC instructors are volunteers with the society. However, we recognize that art is a profession, not merely charity. Ergo, we will still have to provide emolument to these remarkable artists although the rates they are getting are definitely not comparable to the market. In fact, the rates you pay here are much cheaper than anywhere else. Not that we are about to adopt a DFS policy of ‘we will refund you the difference if you find another institution that charges anyhow cheaper’, but the idea is that we try to keep our programs affordable. Rest assured though, our programs are tailored in an utmost professional manner.

Money Matters

If there appears a real financial situation that prevents you from joining any of the activities below, please e-mail us as well.

5. Dead or Alive: Music Theory & Practical Musicianship

The Young Artistes Coterie does not believe in route learning, so much so, we prefer a hands-on approach to learning the theory behind the music that we hear as well as feel. We at TYAC know how particularly boring theory can get, so we want to change the perception of theory lessons by including principles of practical musicianship. A very interesting class that would change the way you view music. Our instructors can prepare you for ABRSM theory exams and such.

Group Size: 1-1 or classes of 4.
Recommended age: 14-19
Costs: Individual Lessons at $35, Group Lessons at $20. (Payable Weekly)
Duration: 1.25/Week (This program runs indefinitely)
Instructors: Grace Lui, Jeremy Chua, Amanda Tan

6. Piano Lessons (Classical)

Piano Lessons at affordable rates! Our dedicated instructors can prepare you for ABRSM or Trinity College’s practical exams. If you would just like to pick up the keyboard for recreation, do enquire as well.

Group Size: 1-1
Recommended age: Any (Standards up to ABRSM Grade 8 or equivalent)
Costs: Depending on Standard. Minimum rate of $22 a lesson. (Payable Weekly)
